Derek Thomas is an award-winning landscape lighting designer with over 13 years of experience creating sophisticated, functional, and energy-efficient outdoor lighting designs. With a background in landscape architecture and a passion for art, Derek combines his technical expertise and artistic vision to transform exterior spaces into stunning evening environments. He believes that lighting is the final layer of a landscape design, revealing its beauty and character after dusk.

Based in New Braunfels, Derek launched Live Oak Lighting to bring his unique, client-focused approach to the region.  His designs are known for their balance and contrast, using carefully selected and positioned fixtures to highlight architectural features, accentuate plantings, and guide the eye through the landscape. He specializes in creating captivating effects for high-end residential gardens, tranquil water features, and complex commercial properties.
